Text Box: John Paul II High School

In an earlier newsletter, I mentioned a contract we have entered into with the Ministry of Education called CPaBL and it is to do with Careers Education in our school.

If you think about it, secondary schooling has a great deal to do with preparing your children either for Tertiary Education or for the workforce.  In either case, if young people don’t have any idea as to what they wish to do after they have left school, then they see no reason for making the effort to gain qualifications.  Consequently, much of their time with us is wasted and it is not until some years later

that this becomes evident to those students involved.

I believe strongly that helping our youngsters determine directions for their futures, is a shared responsibility between home and school.  This would mean parents and teachers working together to assist our young people to achieve their goals which are well planned and carefully thought out.

Included with this newsletter, is an invitation from me for you to become involved in this process and assist us to design the type of careers education programme you think our school should have.  Please indicate your willingness to attend a forum

where we can begin this process of collaboration in support of your child’s future.

I look forward to working with you.
