MISSION STATEMENT & GENERAL GOALS

The Mission Statement of John Paul II High School: “John Paul II High School offers families a comprehensive education in a school culture which encourages and develops academic excellence, personal growth, and life in faith, in accordance with the values of Jesus Christ and Catholic Tradition.”

 

The General Goals of John Paul II High School:

 

1. To develop an ever-stronger sense of community within the school - and with the Catholic parishes, the Grey District Christian community and the Tai Poutini and Runanga.

2. To foster and develop the Gospel values of faith, hope, charity, justice and compassion.

3. To foster and develop a Catholic community within the School, while encouraging participation in Catholic traditions and observances as practised by parish life.
4. To foster a culture where each student will be treated as a unique creation made in the image of God, and where all learning aspects - spiritual, academic, physical and cultural - are valued and developed.

5. To develop a strong academic emphasis in the school so that our students have every chance to succeed in the modern world.

6. To ensure that we develop and maintain a caring, safe community.

7. To develop the skills and attitudes that will enable students to be responsible for their own learning for the rest of their lives.

8. To form responsible adults with a sense of responsibility to make the world a better place - and capable of making responsible, loving, faithful relationships.

9. To foster knowledge of, and respect for, the values of Maori and other cultures.

10. To acknowledge that staff are our prime resource and that their needs for training and pastoral care are addressed.

11. To remain up-to-date and relevant in a time of rapid change.
